About Totally Gold Coast
An independent, still-growing guide to the Gold Coast — built one properly-researched page at a time.
Totally Gold Coast is an independent travel guide covering the Gold Coast, Queensland — suburbs, beaches, theme parks, weather, itineraries and everything in between.
We're building this site out gradually rather than publishing thousands of thin pages on day one. Every page is written to actually answer a real question, cross-linked to the pages that make sense next, and reviewed as things on the coast change. New suburb guides, itineraries and deep dives are added regularly — usually weekly, sometimes more often.
Why we started this
Most Gold Coast travel content online falls into one of two camps: official tourism-board copy that reads like a brochure, or thin, ad-heavy pages clearly written to rank rather than to help. We wanted something in between — genuinely useful, specific enough to act on, and honest about trade-offs (a suburb's downsides get mentioned alongside its upsides, not just the marketing angle).
How we write a page
Every suburb, beach and attraction page starts from what someone would actually want to know before deciding whether to go: what it's really like, who it suits, how to get there, and what's genuinely nearby. We'd rather publish fewer pages that hold up than flood the site with filler.
What we're not
We're not affiliated with Tourism and Events Queensland, Destination Gold Coast, or any theme park operator. Opinions on suburbs, beaches and attractions are our own editorial judgement, formed from genuine research and local knowledge — not paid placement. Separately, the site does run a small number of clearly-marked affiliate partnerships (see our Privacy Policy for the full list) that help cover the cost of running and expanding the site — those are disclosed wherever they appear, and they never influence which suburb, beach or attraction we recommend.
Where we're headed
The plan is straightforward: keep adding suburb, beach and attraction pages every week, build out deeper itineraries and guides, and gradually offer the site in additional languages so it's useful to the coast's genuinely international visitor base — see our homepage for what's live right now, and check back often.
