Prawn trawling pauses for the annual spring closure
The Gold Coast Fishermen’s Co-op says its annual prawn-trawling break began on 20 September and runs until 1 November. Queensland’s official southern inshore and southern offshore trawl-region rules likewise set the annual closure from midday 20 September to midday 1 November, subject to specified licence exceptions.

Gold Coast–Brisbane rail shutdown runs to 11 October
Translink's extended spring school-holiday closure affects the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines from 19 September to 11 October 2026. For most of the closure, passengers travelling between the Gold Coast and Brisbane need rail replacement buses and should allow substantially more time than a normal train trip.
