Gold Coast accommodation ranges from beachfront high-rise apartment towers to boutique hotels, budget motels and holiday parks — and the biggest factor in how happy you'll be with your choice isn't the property itself, it's the suburb. Types of accommodation

• High-rise apartments: The Gold Coast's signature style, especially around Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach — usually self-contained with a kitchen, often with pools and ocean views. Good value for groups and longer stays.
• Hotels & resorts: More service, less self-catering, concentrated in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Main Beach.
• Holiday parks: Budget-friendly, often with cabins or powered sites, found across the coast including near Southport and further south — a solid option for families or longer stays on a budget.
• Boutique & smaller stays: More common in the quieter southern suburbs like Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach, generally lower-rise and more local in character.

Theme-park-focused trip: stay central (Surfers Paradise or Southport) to minimise shuttle and drive times. Beach-and-relax trip: consider Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach or Mermaid Beach for a quieter stretch of sand. Food-focused trip: Broadbeach or Burleigh Heads. Tight budget: Southport or a holiday park further from the main strip.

Where the bigger hotel brands cluster

If you're searching by brand rather than suburb, it helps to know roughly where each cluster sits. Surfers Paradise has by far the heaviest concentration of international and national hotel and serviced-apartment brands on the coast — this is where most of the beachfront towers sit. Broadbeach is home to the coast's casino resort precinct (The Star Gold Coast), plus a run of apartment-hotel brands along the beachfront. Main Beach has a smaller number of higher-end resort properties, generally quieter than the Surfers Paradise strip. Southport tends toward serviced apartments at a more accessible price point. Inland, Benowa is home to one of the coast's larger golf resort properties, useful if golf is part of the trip.
